Imbedded Controller
The motivation is to place the controller PCB in the socket of the signal so that the signal becomes “smart” and can be connected directly to the layout bus.
There are different bus connectors planned,
- connecting to the EDG bus
- connecting to the WS2811 bus
Idea
The mounting hole would need to be 7mm or larger to fit the PCB. The board is connected via an FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) to P18 adapter board, which can be placed at a suitable location under the layout. The adapter converts from the FFC to the standard 3-wire WS28xx bus and alternatively to the 6-pin RTB-EDG bus connectors.
Installing/removing the signal will (hopefully) be an easy task. Additionally, the signal can be soldered/pre-configured on the craft table rather than under the often difficult to access layout.
Two firmware variants can be run on the CPU, providing a different bus interface,
