C10

Bus Master

Abstract: The Bus Master is the interface to the PC and generates precise timing for the Real-time bus.

Specs

The C10 is provides a 3Mbit USB link to the PC. Its failsafe feature stops trains automatically should the PC become unresponsive (dead man function).  Galvanic isolation allows the PC and layout to operate at different ground potentials.

The C10 module goes into Slot-A on one of the C11 Powerboards within the RTB domain. There is only one (but exactly one) C10 required per RTB domain.

Features,

  • USB interface (3Mb, full duplex)
  • FDX interface (2Mb, full duplex)
  • RTB bus master with fail-safe operation
  • galvanic isolated USB
  • firmware update over USB
  • USB power supply to the P15 base board (optional, enabled by jumper)
This option has no function if enabled on a C11 Powerboard.

Example

Only one Powerboard will carry a C10 bus master. In the example drawing its the second board from the left. The bus master can be installed on any of the Powerboards.

CLI interface

The bus master provides the precise bus timing which can be monitored, for example, via the CLI. CRC error counters can indicate possible wiring problems.
