C13

Track Sensor

Abstract: Railcom enabled 4-channel real-time feedback module.

Specs

This C13 track sensor provides 4 real-time feedback channels with current and Railcom detection. In addition, an EDG bus bridge is provided.

Features,

  • HDX interface (2Mb, half duplex, RS-485 differential)
  • DCC
    • output for 4 individual feedback tracks
    • current measurement per track (>1mA)
    • short circuit detection (local tracks power-off)
  • Railcom detector
    • Channel-1 & Channel-2
    • detects unlimited number of decoder per track
    • Railcom polarity detection
  • 1x EDG bridge with (alternatively)
    • up to 250mA (if equipped with linear regulator)
    • up to 1000mA (if equipped with switching regulator)
  • firmware update over the bus

Examples

The number of decoders per track is unlimited. This will become important once all passenger cars will also be equipped with Railcom decoders.

The example shows two C13 track sensors used in a marshalling yard to monitor a total of 8 track segments.

Should a C13 module detect a short circuit, all of its 4 track outputs will be switched off. This needs to be kept in mind when planning the track connections.

CLI interface

Each track is monitored, providing a detailed overview of the DCC power consumption of the entire layout. The C13 shuts down its tracks as soon as one of the four tracks experiences a short circuit. This isolates fault conditions and prevents the entire booster from shutting down.
