C28

Module UID tag

Abstract: Layout identification module.

Specs

The C28 is used to tag layout modules with a unique ID. This allows dynamic identification of modules connected within the layout and detecting its ordering. The embedded OLED display may be used to show information about each layout module such as name, UID and sequence number.

Features,

  • EDG interface (TTL /w signal reshaping)
  • automatic layout topology discovery
  • (optional) OLED display (SSD1306 128×32) with I2C interface
  • firmware update over the bus

Examples

A C28 will be installed in each segment of the system. The information about the segment is stored here. The OLED display is optional on every C28. The C28 modules have the option of determining their order on the EDG bus and thus determining the structure of the layout.

CLI interface

Assume a 4 modules layout each equipped with a C28. If we connect the layout modules in any random order, the bus will automatically discover the ordering of the modules (s. column ‘Seq#’). This information is planned to be used for automatic computation of the track layout.
