E10
Specs
This module implements a 16 channel WS2811 emulator with compatible bus timing. The E10 may be cascaded with regular WS2811 (or compatible) chips.
Features,
- Variable (auto detecting) LED count [0..16]
- Terminal connectors
- 256 step PWM (240Hz) per LED
- Variable LED voltage [0..5V] for global dimming
- Push/Pull output (can drive common anode or cathode)
- Gamma correction (optional via firmware)
- Connects to C30 or C19 modules
- Fast firmware update via RS232 debug interface
Note: The E10 may also be used with other WS28xx compatible controllers such as MobaLedLib (not been tested yet) or BiDiB NeoControl.
Most LEDs are very bright when powered at 5V. In order to limit the maximum brightness, it may make sense to set the common voltage to e.g. 3.5V. In this case, the value for common must be 178.
Common[Volt] = 5[Volt] * {common} / 255The common voltage scaler can also be used to adapt to the day/night operation of the layout. Daylight LED intensity may be too bright when operating the system in the dark.
The number of LEDs is automatically detected (n = number of detected LEDs, which can be zero),
WS28xx bus: … {common} {led_1} {led_2} … {led_n} …Example
In this example, the E10 module is used to drive light signals, replacing industry standard WS2811 chips.
There isn’t much of a difference using either E10 or WS2811. But I decided to implement all electronics using my standardized PCB layout which provides a degree of physical consistency. But technically, there is no deeper reasoning behind it.
