Bus Adapter

Abstract: Bus Adapter for imbedded signal controller.

Specs

The P18 is a universal bus adapter that converts from the FFC cable to either the EDG bus or the WS28xx bus. Since the FFC cables are typically very short and also somewhat fragile, the P18 adapter is mounted close to the signal to which the embedded controller is connected via the FFC cable.

In addition, the P18 provides a Debug IF port for accessing the VT100 interface of the connected E11, E13, C36 or C37 (Note: The E12 does not provide a Debug IF).

Example

There are three connectivity alternatives. The P18 adapter connects

  • Type 1: to the EDG bus.
  • Type 2: to the 3-wire WS28xx bus.
  • Type 3: to a WS28xx distribution module.

Type 1 requires either C36 or C37 as the imbedded signal controller. Type 2/3 requires either E11, E12 or E14 as the imbedded signal driver.

Using EDG bus

Imbedded modules with EDG bus firmware require the P18 adapter to be connected to the EDG bus via the 6-pin EDG connector.

Using 3-wire WS28xx bus

Imbedded modules with WS28xx bus firmware require the P18 adapter to be connected to the WS28xx bus via the standard 3-pin WS28xx bus connector.
